No business is an island. It must be fed by a strong ecosystem, and in return contribute back to the community. E-Motors Consulting has found involvement in engineering organizations like the IEEE or the SAE to be strong pillars for a successful career. Particularly important in E-Motors’ technical field is the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) and the IEEE Transportation Electrification Council (TEC). Bruno was TEC chair for 4 years (2019-2022), and is past President (2011-2012) of IAS.
The IEEE Transportation Electrification Community is tasked with coordinating initiatives within IEEE concerning this subject, particularly in terms of standards, conferences, publications., and education material such as tutorials and webinars.
Of particular interest within the Industry Applications Society, have been the Electric Machines Committee and the Transportation Systems Committee, part of IAS IPCSD department, as these two technical committees deal with these two topics to considerable depth. Meetings and conferences relevant to these subjects are:
- Energy Conversion Congress and Exhibition (ECCE) .
- International Transportation Electrification Conference (ITEC): In North America, Asia-Pacific, India, and Europe where ITEC joined hands with the successful ESARS conference, becoming ESARS-ITEC.
Bruno is also keen about sharing the benefits of technology and of IEEE across the world. In this respect, he has been involved with PowerAfrica, a conference dedicated to electrical power and applications in Africa. Bruno chaired its steering committee until December 2024. Bruno is also involved with IEEE SmartVillage, whose mission it is to help develop entrepreneurship in developing nations, usually centered around electrical projects. Bruno is Chair if its SmartVillage Safety, Quality, Reliability and Standards Committee.
